Sabor A Café Colombian Steakhouse: Authentic Colombian Flavors in Chicago

Enjoyed my time here, for starters we had empanadas and a sausage dog appetizer that was delicious. Entrees were medium rare steaks accompanied with lemonades con coco. Ended with a guayaba, cheese desert.all this while listening to live music ..... recommend to all.

Sabor A Café feels like dinner and a show wrapped into one lively Colombian experience. The steaks are well-seasoned and grilled just right, served with hearty sides that make the whole plate feel comforting and generous. You can tell the flavors are rooted in tradition — bold, savory, and satisfying. What really makes the place stand out is the live music. The energy picks up as the night goes on, and the whole room starts to feel like a celebration. It’s warm, vibrant, and perfect for when you want more than just a meal — you want a whole vibe.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating, though the space is not big they make it work and made me feel comfortable. I took a chance with my order of beef brisket expecting a traditional American dish, the Columbian version at this restaurant looked and tasted like it was boiled beef and did not do it for me. The live music was fantastic! The band "Carpacho Super Combo" more than made up for any issues i might have had! They had the whole restaurant entertained and dancing! I will definitely be returning! To try more food options, to hear them and enjoy the vibe of Sabor A Café.

Can we do a 10 star for the atmosphere? Don't get me wrong, service was phenomenal and the food was AMAZING! We got the breaded tilapia, bandeja paisa and maracuya mousse for dessert and i still can't stop thinking about it! BUT THE MUSIC! it's food for the heart and soul! Can't believe I've only found out about this gem! Tbh I wanna keep it a secret, but it's too amazing to not share.

Sabor a Café is one of those spots that surprises you with how solid the food is, even if the overall experience doesn’t quite match it. The empanadas were a solid 8.2 out of 10 — crisp, flavorful, and filled just right. The real standout, though, was the chicharrón con yuca frita. It hit that perfect balance: not too greasy, the pork nice and crunchy, and the yuca cooked to perfection — light and fluffy inside, golden outside. Honestly, that dish alone is worth the trip. The pollo à la Plancha, didn’t impress as much. Not bad, just not memorable. On the other hand, the sobrebarriga with maduro was good, landing around a 7.8. It felt like it was missing a small touch — maybe a bit more seasoning or sauce depth — but still enjoyable. The passionfruit juice was a bit of a miss for me. It leaned way too bitter, and a touch more condensed milk or sugar would’ve helped balance it out. The staff couldn’t have been nicer — genuinely friendly and welcoming. The only real downside was the atmosphere. For a Friday evening, it was oddly quiet, with only one other table occupied. It felt more like a takeout vibe than a dine-in experience. Overall, I’d still recommend giving Sabor a Café a try if you’re in the area. The food’s worth it, especially that chicharrón, even if the ambiance doesn’t quite live up to the flavor.
